Learn How Software Is Tested, and Why
Build a solid foundation in software testing: the principles behind it, the levels and types of testing, how to design good test cases, and how to report defects clearly.
- Testing principles, levels and types
- Test design techniques
- Writing clear test cases
- Defect reporting and agile testing
Course overview
About This Course
Testing Fundamentals introduces the principles and everyday practices of software testing, giving you the foundation for any testing or quality role.
Every software team relies on testing to find problems before users do. Good testers understand what to test, how to design tests that find real issues, and how to communicate defects so they get fixed.
You will learn why testing matters, how testing fits into the software development lifecycle, the different levels and types of testing, test design techniques, how to write and organise test cases, and how to report and track defects.
This is the starting point of our Software Testing learning paths, followed by API Testing, Test Automation and Quality Engineering.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need programming skills?
No. Testing Fundamentals does not require programming. Programming becomes useful later, in API Testing and Test Automation.
What will I be able to do after the course?
You should understand how testing works, be able to design and write test cases, and report defects clearly. API Testing and Test Automation are the natural next steps.
Are there practical exercises?
Yes. You will design tests, write test cases and test sample applications throughout the course.
Does the course prepare me for a testing certification?
The course covers widely used testing concepts, but it is not an official certification course.
